Product Information

Many Specific Systems units are manufactured for use in either very dry or very humid locations. For these applications, Specific Systems offers humidistat and dehumidistat controls for any AirPak or InPac unit.

Humidistats, used in some desert and cold, dry climates, connect to a humidification unit that adds water to the air. Ensuring a correct amount of moisture is necessary near electronics, where static electricity can build up and cause major damage to highly sensitive and expensive computers.

Dehumidistats, in contrast, remove excess humidity from the air. This is especially useful to control growth of mold, as well as helping to meet ASHRAE Standard 62.1 which limits relative humidity in occupied areas to 65% maximum.

The H8908A Humidistat and H8908D Dehumidistat (humidity controllers) provide automatic low voltage control of humidifiers and dehumidifiers or ventilators, respectively, in heating and air conditioning systems. They have a SPST, snap-acting, dust-proof switch and are designed for wall or surface duct mounting.

  • Positive ON and OFF settings.
  • Twelve-inch ribbon of thin, moisture-sensitive nylon ribbon wound around three bobbins effectively gives optimum control for reliable operation under changing ambient conditions.
  • Mounts in duct or on wall surface.

Both humidistats and dehumidistats work to retain the relative humidity of the controlled area at a predefined percentage.
