Product Information

Galvanized steel is the standard industry material for outdoor products. Untreated metals such as steel are prone to rusting. Using zinc, the galvanizing process forms a metallurgical bond with raw steel, coating the steel with zinc that resists rusting under normal conditions. Galvanizing provides a structural element that requires very little maintenance, and is intrisically resistant to surface damage.

Specific Systems then goes a step beyond galvanizing, by including powder coating as standard on all galvanized units. The hot-dipped galvanized steel is trimmed to size, formed, and powder coated in Specific Systems facility before being assembled. Powder coat is available in the five standard colors shown below, with custom colors available upon request for a small additional charge.

Galvanized steel is the ecoonomical choice when the extra corrosion protection of stainless steel is unnecessary. As with all Specific Systems products, galvanized steel units are prepared for a long service life.

Specific Systems standard cabinets are composed of 16-gauge hot-dipped galvanized steel that has been powder coated to a thickness of 3-4 mils in one of several colors. The extra coating helps separate the galvanized steel from the environment, connecting screws, and internal components of the unit.

Internal shelving of all galvanized units are manufactured using 12-gauge galvanized steel. All units also include a stainless steel drain pan to prevent corrosion in the most vulnerable internal area of the unit. All connections are made using stainless steel screws, which are intrinsically corrosion resistant themselves, and do not create an electrical current with the galvanized steel.
